If there’s one thing that’s got us excited over the last few months, it’s Forest’s extraordinary new 25-year guarantee on some of their wooden sheds and other pressure-treated garden buildings.
What’s more, not only is Forest now supplying by far the longest guarantee on the wooden shed market, they are happy to do so with the promise that the wood will never need retreating, saving customers huge amounts of time and money on expensive retreatments, and giving them complete maintenance freedom. Even coming from the UK’s leading manufacturer of wooden garden sheds, that’s quite a promise, so we’ve decided to investigate how they do it…
Why Wood Needs Treating

As wood is a living thing, when it is exposed to damp conditions, it will be prone to rot and fungal decay. It doesn’t matter how high quality the wood, there’s simply no getting away from this fact. So, to prevent rot and fungal decay from occurring, the timber needs treating with a high-quality wood preservative.
This preservative can be applied by brush, through dip treatment, or via pressure treatment. As the wood is dipped into a tank of preservative, dip treatment provides better coverage than brush application, but pressure treatment is far superior to both.
The Pressure-Treatment Process Explained
Dried timber is placed inside a treatment cylinder, which is sealed. A vacuum pump removes all air from the cylinder, which is then flooded with a high-quality wood preservative. This is forced deep inside the timber under hydraulic pressure. Excess fluid is extracted from the chamber, again under pressure, a final vacuum completed, and the wood removed from the cylinder.
Unlike dip treatment or brush application, pressure treatment protects ALL of the wood, rather than just the surface area. This results in unbeatable protection against rot and fungal decay, regardless of weather conditions.
Forest Pressure Treatment
Even though pressure treatment is the best treatment process, most wooden shed manufacturers still advise customers to retreat the wood on a periodic basis and supply relatively short anti-rot guarantees.
So, what makes Forest different? How can this company supply a market-leading 25-year anti-rot guarantee and tell customers that some of their pressure-treated products never need retreating?
The answer to this is not as complicated as you might think. It is simply that Forest has supreme confidence in their products. They have been manufacturing wooden sheds for over 50 years and developed the best pressure-treatment process in the business.
Examples of Forest’s 25-Year Garden Building Guarantee
Now you know why Forest has such confidence in their pressure-treated products, let’s take a look at some of the garden buildings that boast their market-leading 25-year anti-rot guarantee.
Forest 4Life™ Sheds

There’s no doubt about it, the 4Life™ range of pressure-treated wooden sheds are the best overlap sheds that Forest has ever made.
Their notable features start with a modular design, making for an easier assembly, stronger shed, and greater versatility with door and window placements.
Then you’ve got the 14mm solid timber floor, which is an incredible 40% thicker than most shed floors.
Add to that the ledged and braced security doors plus shatterproof PET-glazed windows, and you’ve got a top-notch wooden shed.
And, arguably even more eye-catching than the high-quality spec is these sheds’ extraordinarily competitive pricing. The 7x5 shed shown here is currently a touch over £400*. How about that for value for money?! Wow!
But if you want to buy a shed as good as this one at a rock bottom price (and get a FREE Keysafe, worth £39.99, too), you’ll need to hurry because this temporarily low price is part of our current great offer on Forest 4Life™ sheds.

Frequently Asked Questions
What types of wood are best for shed construction?
When choosing wood for your shed, pressure treated softwood like pine or spruce is a great choice because of its natural durability and rot resistance. Cedar is another popular choice for sheds because of its natural oils that repel insects and its moisture resistance. Douglas fir is strong and weather-resistant so is perfect for long-term use. Tongue and groove timber used in premium sheds gives extra weatherproofing and strength. For eco-friendly sheds, FSC® certified timber ensures the wood is sourced responsibly and adds to the sustainability of the build. For low maintenance, pressure treated wood is the key to longevity without the need for constant upkeep.
