Polycarbonate greenhouses are famed for their durability and strength; unlike glass, these panels are virtually unbreakable. Our polycarbonate greenhouses are typically aluminium-framed too, to further bolster robustness. Take a look through our extensive range of quality greenhouses today; we offer fast and free UK delivery to the vast majority of mainland postcodes.
Visit our greenhouse buying guide to make an informed decision when buying a greenhouse. Step Three: Understanding Greenhouse Glazing discusses polycarbonate greenhouses in detail. Simply click on any of the images below to explore our generous selection or click “View Details” under each product.
Shedstore’s polycarbonate greenhouses are predominantly aluminium-framed and feature an entry door with polycarbonate side and roof panels. They create perfect conditions for plants to thrive, including fruit, vegetables, flowers, and herbs. Our greenhouses made from polycarbonate are manufactured by Halls or Palram Canopia and are virtually maintenance-free. Choose from predominantly apex and pent-style roof designs.
Polycarbonate is used in greenhouse manufacturing for four main reasons, its impact resistance, insulation qualities, clarity of vision, and relatively low cost. The high-impact polycarbonate used is approximately 250 times stronger than glass and this is why it is frequently used, for its safety qualities.
Available in “lean to” and “walk in” styles, it is important to carefully consider where to locate your polycarbonate greenhouse. Lean to greenhouses, rest nicely against a wall, fence or other garden building and are a space saver. You will need to find a sunny spot for your greenhouse, preferably away from the main playing spots for children. Unlike glass greenhouses, polycarbonate will not break when struck by a ball, but even so, it is best to situate your greenhouse in a quieter area!
Typically, the roof panels are 4mm thick and side panels are either 4mm or 6mm thick. The 4mm thickness, does the job perfectly but 6mm provides extra insulation, which can also be useful for protecting plants from getting scorch burns from direct sunlight.
Broadly, there are three size categories available for greenhouses, these are mini, small, and large. We discuss each of these below:
Our polycarbonate mini greenhouses range from 4’x2’ to 6’x2' in size. Use mini greenhouses if you are especially restricted for space, have a limited price you can pay, or perhaps as a beginner’s greenhouse.
Our small polycarbonate greenhouses range from 6’x4’ to 6’x8' in size. The term “Small” is deceptive, as you can pack a lot of fruit, flower, and vegetable growing into small greenhouses.
Our large polycarbonate greenhouses range from 6’x8’ to 12’x10' in size. Large greenhouses cost more but provide luxurious space for most greenhouse activities you may want. Plant seedlings, cultivate cuttings, bring in planters from the garden for overwintering as well as other activities. Do all these things and still have lots of storage space for compost, fertiliser, pots and crockery, greenhouse accessories, and much more!
Our 6’x4’ polycarbonate greenhouses for sale are one of our most popular individual sizes, measuring 1.85m x 1.26m. Manufactured by both Palram Canopia and Halls, they are the entry-level size in our small polycarbonate greenhouses group.
6’x4’ polycarbonate greenhouses are perfect for smaller gardens or where space is limited. They create a wonderful environment for plants to thrive and are available with a wide range of options such as aluminium and resin frames.
We also sell 4’x6’ aluminium greenhouses as well as 6’x4’ aluminium and wooden greenhouses.
We sell a vast range of greenhouse accessories. These include adjustable workbenches, base kits, irrigation kits, lighting systems, roof vents, shading kits, shelving, side louvre window openers and trellis kits. Simply click this link to view the full range of products available.
