Description

The perfect home for up to 6 hens, the 5'4 x 3'8 Forest Hedgerow Wooden Large Hen House (1.63m x 1.12m) is cleverly designed, impeccably built, and backed by an excellent 10-year guarantee.

A Premium Hen House

This large hen house is made in the UK from 15mm shiplap cladding, on a combination of 45mm x 45mm and 45mm x 28mm framing, so is strong, long lasting and completely weathertight. Pressure treated and supplied with an excellent 10-year anti-rot guarantee, no further treatment is required, saving both time and money.

The wood used to build this hen hut is FSC® certified too, so is sourced from sustainable, well-managed forests. Rounded off with a lovely smooth-planed finish, this 2-tier wooden hen house really is premium, in every sense of the word.

Floor and Roof

The floor is constructed from 12mm plywood, which is ultra-tough and very easy to clean. It is raised from the ground to provide a barrier against rot-causing ground moisture and keep the surface dry.

The weatherproof pent roof is made from 3mm Onduline, so is lightweight, boasts excellent sound absorption, and protects against red mite infestation.

Other Key Features

A large front door makes cleaning the hen house easy. This door can be secured by a pad bolt and turn buttons to keep the hens safely inside (padlock not included).

To the side of the main door are 2 smaller doors. The upper is designed to aid ventilation and fitted with wire mesh, while the lower one drops down into a walkway, allowing the hens to exercise outside.

A further door is located on the raised nesting box, providing easy access to eggs. All of these smaller doors can be secured by turn buttons to keep the hens safe.

White Glove Delivery Service

Forest's White Glove Service will deliver this wooden hen house for free to most UK addresses, straight into the customer's garden, with all of the packaging removed. Clear instructions and a full set of fixings are included for a straightforward assembly.

Pressure Treatment Process Explained

The Pressure Treatment process for timber has been applied to products for a number of years; the key benefit of this process is that the preservative is forced under vacuum pressure right deep into the heart of the wood and the grain structure. The preservative becomes an integral part of the wood; giving a long life and protection against rot.

This process also means that you never have to apply preservatives to your hen house, and it allows the natural colours of the timber to show through and so your hen house blends easily within your garden.

VACUUM

Timber is loaded into chamber and a vacuum empties timber cells of air.

FLOODED

Cylinder is flooded under vacuum with preservative.

PRESSURE

Preservative is forced deep into timber using hydraulic pressure.

VACUUM

Another vacuum extracts excess preservative.

DRY

Timber draws in surface excess of preservative under low pressure, then is left to dry.

From The Supplier: Forest Garden

"We're proud to be the largest and most trusted manufacturer and distributor of garden timber products in the UK" - Forest Garden

Making British Gardens Great

At Forest, we know a fair bit about fences. And sheds for that matter. In fact, we've been one of the UK's most trusted manufacturer and distributor of quality wooden garden products for over 50 years.

With two sawmills in the UK processing locally-sourced timber, and a Head Office in Hartlebury, Worcestershire, you’ll find our range of garden buildings, fencing, decking and decorative structures for sale across many sites online and in over 3,000 retail stores. From the forest to the doorstep, we are involved every step of the way to ensure we bring you the best product and service.

Well made in Britain

The majority of the timber we use is grown and felled from managed UK forests across Scotland and Wales. After felling, the timber is cut and processed in one of our nearby sawmills and taken to our manufacturing operation in the heart of Britain. It is here our skilled workforce proudly produce the widest range of garden buildings, fencing and structures available in the UK.

All of the products that we sell are dispatched from this site. The final part of their journey is managed by our dedicated delivery department who are responsible for distribution direct to customers' homes by our fleet of vehicles.

Home Grown

We're proud to say that the majority of the timber we use is cut in our very own sawmill from trees grown in the UK.

Not only that, but our range is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and the majority of our products carry the FSC logo - so you know that our timber is ethically sourced from well-managed, sustainable forests that are replanted for future generations.
