Once you've chosen and bought your new shed, next you need to think about preparing your garden for its arrival. You will need to clear any rubble or detritus from the area and create a hard-sanding to support the shed. If you fail to make a flat and level hard-standing, your new shed could begin to warp. This will ultimately lead to damage and even broken windows.
Suitable hard-standings include:
- Flat concrete base
- Level concrete slabs
- Timber decking (great for use with log cabins)
Please note - Even if you've paid to have your shed installed, the installation teams won't clear rubble or prepare a hard-standing for you. Constructing most garden buildings require:
- Minimal DIY skills
- Very basic tools
- At least two people
- From 2 – 5 hours (but be prepared to take a few days if needed – especially for larger buildings like Summerhouses)
- Don't forget timber treatments (Especially for log cabins)!
The majority of our garden buildings and timber storage units carry a 10 to 15 year manufacturers warranty against rot and decay. So you can enjoy your accomplishment for many years to come.
