Very often people don't put much attention into creating a level base for there shed. If you neglect to do this then there is the possibility of subsidence which will ultimately lead to warping and damage.

We highly recommend that when you buy a shed you also buy the relevant shed base kit. They are easier to assemble than preparing concrete hardstanding and best of all you don't need to wait for them to dry.

What you need to build your shed:

  • All the instructions

  • A hammer

  • Drill and bits

  • Lump hammer

  • Step ladders

  • Craft knife

  • A spirit level

  • Tape measure

Building the shed base kit:

  • Read the instructions

  • Lay all the components out

  • On the longer joists, mark out the positions for the cross-bearers

  • Then you will need to drill pilot holes where you have marked

  • Next, affix all of the cross-bearers to the long joists

  • Move the base frame to were you would like your new shed to sit

  • Ensure that the highest point is flat and level using your spirit level

  • Drive the first stake at the highest point of the base frame, using your lump hammer

  • Drill through stake and the base frame and then affix with screws

  • Lastly, drive in the other stakes and fix them to the frame, all whilst keeping the frame square

Assembling the walls of your new shed:

  • Read the instructions

  • Layout all the components nearby

  • Affix doors if they're not already

  • Position the floor of the shed onto the prepared base kit frame

  • Then drill pilot holes through the sides of the wall panels at the top, middle and bottom

  • Place upright the back-end and one of the side wall panels of your shed

  • Fix these together with screws using the pilot holes

  • Repeat until all the wall panels are upright and free-standing

  • Fix the walls of the shed to the floor and base kit frame

Adding the shed roof:

  • Again, read the instructions

  • Fix the long batons to the roof panels one at the edge and the other offset

  • Measure the length of your sheds roof panels

  • Cut-out three sections of felt which are 10 cm longer which are the length of the roof panels

  • Tack on the first two sections of felt across the roof panels

  • Attach the third section over the first two sections, across the apex of the roof

  • Tack down any overhanging felt and the cover with the barge boards

  • Finally, install the windows – if any
