Should I buy a wooden, metal or plastic shed? - Thursday, January 24, 2013

Timber Shed

Wood is a traditional material and, coming from nature, looks great in any garden. There's also guarantees with wooden shed so you can stop worrying about any rot problems (pressure treated sheds have longer guarantees than dip treated). A new shed will arrive looking sparkly new but soon fades to blend in with any garden setting. The other great attribute to wooden sheds is they can be retreated or painted to stay up with the garden colour trends of the day. Wooden sheds are the traditional choice.

Below we will discuss the advantages of choosing between wooden sheds, plastic sheds and metal sheds to help you decide which is best for you, be sure to check our the ranges we offer.

Plastic Sheds

Plastic sheds are simple to construct and easy to secure. The greatest attribute to plastic sheds is that they just don’t rot. There is no maintenance at all other than a wash or a power wash down if algae becomes a problem e.g. the shed is stuck away in a dark, damp corner and moss builds up on the roof or sides. Plastic sheds also come in a range of colours to suit your garden or your fancy. They are a great choice if you need a quick, easily movable shed space.

Metal Sheds

Metal sheds are superb for security. You cannot, without making a lot of noise, bash your way through the walls and they are easy secure down and lock up. There is no need to paint them and they don’t rot, rust or fade. There is little maintenance with a metal shed – like all sheds, hinges on doors need to be oiled but other than that…nothing. Some have guarantees that last 10, 15 or even 20 years. They are a great choice if you need to store expensive tools and gardening items. An alarmed padlock system is a great addition to any metal shed.
